Andy Warhol Art Museum

A recognizable characteristic in the artwork of Andy Warhol is Variation. This is especially expressed in his iconic paintings of Marylin Monroe, which showed great variations in each version of her image. His Campbell's soup cans also express variation, but in a minor way. These are just two iconic examples of the many paintings Andy Warhol produced with variation. Shifting this concept of variation into a more architectural context for a gallery, the idea is to create a variation of area, volume, and space. One piece of program may have one volume, while another piece of program may have another volume. If these volumes intersect each other, a new volume is formed, creating space for a new program.
